🚗 Crema → Oberschleißheim
~525 km · ~5.5 h driving · via the Brenner or the Gotthard/San Bernardino
🎬 Optional last stop: Grotte di Catullo, Sirmione
Lake Garda peninsula, right on the A4 toward the Brenner (~1 h from Crema).
🎬 In the film: where Mr. Perlman’s team dredges the bronze statue from Lake Garda — and Elio and Oliver shake hands over its outstretched arm ("Truce?").
🏛 History: the ruins of a vast Roman villa (~2 hectares, built around the turn of the 1st century AD) on the tip of the Sirmione peninsula — the largest Roman private villa in northern Italy. Named after the poet Catullus, who wrote of coming home to "beloved Sirmio" (Poem 31), though the villa itself was built after his death. Olive groves, lake views, and a fitting film farewell before the Alps.
📍 🎬 Optional last stop: Grotte di Catullo, Sirmione
